Out of the Norm

Hello Long time  no blog. Sorry about that but RL has taken a steady turn for the insane route! I was however intrigued by Adorkable Peapod’s blog challenge to blog something out of the norm for you. I have decided to take part of that and blog clothing! :O

Anywhos onto to the clothing! I was given a bloggers copy of the Leggings and t-shirt by the owner of [Sleeping Koala], Evelyn Hartshon, so I thought I would use those as a starting point.  Seeing that the leggings were all really bright colored I decided to pay homage to my childhood growing up in the 80s and go with a crazy bright color theme. Also don’t mind the different photo layouts I was uncertain which style I liked better so I used both (for better or worse lol).

My outfit consists of some individual pieces and some pieces I stole from a full kids outfit because I loved the look of them!

My assorted accessories. (Most of which comes with the full outfit from **Cute Bytes**)

Because the leggings were my inspiration to blog I am showing you the entire range of the Bright colored ones which take me back to my Rainbow Bright days 🙂 They come in 7 colors, 6 pictured below plus the ones I’m wearing in the other pics). She also has Fishnet, Zebra, & Cheetah ones.

Bandage leggings

Okay, so all this running around the grid buying stuff and trying to find places to take pictures has tired me out so I’m going to just lay here and play in the sand now *waves*

Sale at Sanctity Poses

Soooo this really is not normally my area of review but it’s furniture related ( especially since I use her poses in my furniture pieces). Sanctity Poses is having a sale on all of their poses to try and help Zarabella Ming (the creator & owner &  friend of mine) to buy her supplies for her up coming school year (she’s going back to school to be a manicurist). So why don’t you pop on over and check out what she has to offer.

Also as a side note Zara does custom pose orders so if you are looking for something special let her know – she has done a couple for me in the past and they turned out awesome (she even tweeked them till my annal retentiveness was satisfied)

Garden Edging from Pocket Garden

For today’s post I’m moving to my outdoor space to review Pocket Garden’s Garden Edging Set.This is a very low prim set designed to enhance your garden space and to add some division between garden beds and grass space/walk space. All 7 pieces of this set are copy, no mod, no transfer so you can rez as many of the pieces you need to fit your space. Each piece consists of rocks and grass and even some have irises (at least that is what I’m guessing they are, but I really have no clue when it comes to flowers) built already into it.

I have taken the set and broken it down by each piece so you can get a feel for what each piece looks like on it’s own and at the end of the post you can see everything come together.

The first edging piece (yes they are broken down by number in the set so you can tell them apart) is shown above.  Alright I’m going to be a little bit knit picky about this very first piece, I know I just started the review but I suppose I’ll get it out of the way first. The one end has a rock that is flat on one side which makes it difficult to line up with anything but one of the corner pieces (I’ll talk about them later in the post) so it may be harder to use this one in the middle of a line. Also there is a ton of grass on this piece in clumps so if you are trying to use it as a flower bed edging it may be a little more difficult. This is when to me being able to mod would be helpful but that is where some of the other piece comes into play.

Here is the second piece just as long as the first one but, I like the even mix of this piece between the flowers, grass and rock out of all the individual pieces this is by far my favorite one. I guess for me it has something to do with symmetry but when I build around my garden (I live in a skybox right now so I don’t really have a garden space yet) this is the one I’ll be using. Also I really like the rocks shapes &  sizes in this piece.

The  third edging piece I believe would make the best edging piece if you were doing a division around a perfect garden bed because one side has the grass and the other side has the flowers so it creates that division between grass and flowers nicely. I do have one negative about this piece there is one big rock that seems kind of out of place at the end of the set but it plays in well with one of the corner pieces (sorry not talking about them yet but soon).

Okay so this is Edging piece number 4 probably my second favorite edging piece of the set, again it’s symmetrical like edging piece number 2 with a good balance of rocks, grass & flowers. This piece is only 4m long which may be a more manageable size for your space if you are living on a smaller plot of land.

Alright here is the last piece of edging of the set. This is the shortest piece of the set and just features grass and rock, no flowers this time.

Finally on to the corner pieces. There are 2 different corner pieces to choose from, the one above is corner piece number 1. It Consists of one rock and some tufts of grass. This piece works well up against some of the edging pieces that have larger stones at the end.

Here is the second corner piece which has a U kind of shape with the flowers growing out of the middle. This piece you need to “sink” into the ground a little bit when you rez it so that the flowers look like they are growing out of the ground and not your rocks (it warns you about this in the note card that comes with the set: yes people read the note card it has useful & helpful information about your purchase *duh*). Below, you will find a picture of this corner piece before you “sink” the rock into the ground just as a reference point.

As a side note I love this corner piece. I went a little nutty and rezzed a ton of them and squished them all together to make an edging just out of them (sorry didn’t take any pics).

And for the grand finally here is a smallish set up of all the pieces used together. I tried to take pictures from different angles to give you a feel of what it looks like all around.

Pocket Garden’s Garden Edging set is a great addition to your outside space to give your gardens a finished look or just to give your landscape some division (I suppose you could use them as a walk way too). The whole set sells for $225L and can be found at Pocket Garden’s main location. If you want more information about Pocket Garden you can visit them in world or check out their blog.

Valentine’s day Wall paper & hunt gift

This post is going to be a little bit different then my normal furniture post and I will be reviewing a wallpaper texture pack & a hunt item from one of my favorite multifaceted designers in SL.

This weekend (and for Monday possible Tuesday) Emily Kaestner of [croire] is offering a Valentine’s day Wall paper pack for Super Bargain Saturday for $60L. In this pack there are 4 different wallpapers which have full modification rights so you can use them in builds to sell.

Each of the patterns have a “pink” patterned section with a great white top molding and a white wainscoting bottom section. The high quality of these textures is apparent in that you can resize them so that the entire wall is just the top patterned section and it doesn’t looked stretched or cruddy.

Emily also has set out her hunt item (early) for the Valentine Diva Hunt; it is a simple 1 prim decoration called “to the beautiful girl” letters perfect for any desk, hall table or coffee table.

Both of these items can be found for a limited time at [croire]’s main location so tp on over and scope up your copies!

If you want more information about any of these items or other things that [croire] makes pop on over to the store blog.

HOmE GENiE – Kitchen

The other night I was going through my notices from the SL Home & Garden group  (which you should join if you are interested in furniture products!) and there was a notice about a new furniture place that had just opened. The notice included some pictures of the offerings at the store and I liked the style of the products so I thought I’d check it out. As soon as I tped in I was greeted by Jeannie Svenson the owner & creator of the store HOmE GENiE. Jeannie showed me around her little store and we talked for a good while about how she got started designing in SL & about all of her products. After looking at all of her products I decided the one set that caught my eye the most was her kitchen set which is modern yet has a twinge of retro to it (like several of her current pieces). So that is what I’m going to review for you today.

The kitchen set is called Cool Coal Cuisine and can be purchased as a set or as individual pieces (I’ll get to the nitty gritty of specifics through out the review) I will be reviewing the entire set for you today.

Everything you see in this photo (minus the skybox) is included in the full set. The price is set at $999 L with Copy rights but no Mod & no Transfer. The full set includes a corner sink, counter, dishwasher, fridge, oven, small cupboard, stool, storing table, & accessories.

In my set up (above) I’m currently using 3 small cupboards (this is why I love copy stuff *dance*) plus all of the other goodies in the set.

The counter & the stool combo have to be my 2nd most favorite part of the set. I love how the stool is sort of a throwback shape to some of the RL furniture of the 70’s and the counter itself is more on the modern side. Creating a unique look that can fit into either a modern setting or a more retro look.

The counter (pictured above) is 8 prims and costs $129L if you purchase it separately. I really adore the wood grain texture that is on the top mixed with the glass texture that is in the middle section of the piece.

The stool  (above) is comprised of 3 prims & costs $129 L. The stool contains 3 different poses which are menu driven. I really do love the shape of the stool & the texturing on the base of the stool it makes it look very realistic. The stool however has 2 tiny flaws, 1 being it seems to have a pink section between the black and white sections. The other is on the base where it has a wonky spot on it (it sticks out) but if you put it just a tad into the floor it is all gone that is why the wonkyness is only visible in the upper left photo.

I love the accessories that come with this set however there are a few negative things about the set. One of the negative factor is that because the items are no mod I can’t shrink or enlarge the items to the sizes I want but that is something you just have to deal with, with no mod items. The other negative is that the textures on the pink & blue boxes do not line up quiet right in the middle but you don’t really notice it unless you zoom in on them.

Now onto my favorite part of the set- the appliance suite! I absolutely love the Dishwasher, Fridge & Oven that come part of this set. They are all proportionate to an avatar & do not dwarf you while you are standing next to them unlike some other appliances in SL.

The dishwasher has a wood grain top (matches the other counters) has a grayish/silver front & a detailed handle, it is 8 prims and costs $99L.

The fridge has a stainless steel texture and has 2 detailed handles (and I am very jealous of my avie because this is the same kind of fridge I want in RL!) the fridge is 9 prims & costs $99L.

The oven is a really great piece & I wanted to single it out for a more in depth review out of the appliance suite. The oven is 14 prims & costs $149 L, it comes as you see it in the above pictures with the towel hanging from the handle & the range hood that hovers over the stove top. I love all the detail that this piece has from the stove top burner set up to all the little knobs on the front like a real oven would have. I would say this & the fridge are the two pieces that drew me to this whole set in the beginning. Even though this is my favorite piece I found 2 things that I’d like to see done to make this piece go over the top. One being that I would love it if the towel hanging on the stove was color/texture change and the second being the top of the range hood does not reach my ceiling so making the tube longer or creating a bend in the tube to make it look like it’s going out through the wall.

The Corner Sink (above) has 27 prims and costs $249L (the pink & blue boxes are part of the accessory pack). This corner piece features a sink (will talk more about below) a corner cabinet & an extra off shoot. It’s a great corner piece & would work really well in a small kitchen with just the appliance suite. There are a couple small quirks about the piece 1 being the end of the cabinet has no finished end, but you will never notice it once you put the pieces together. The other is that the textures on the top of the counter don’t exactly line up well, but again you dont really notice unless you are right on top of the piece.

On the corner sink piece there is a sink (duh) that features a faucet that has an on and off “running” animation that is menu driven. It is a nice little feature that adds a realistic touch to the piece!

The last two items to cover from this set are the small cupboard and the storing table. The small cupboard is 5 prims & is $69L and has a nice texturing that fits well with the rest of the set. For me it’s the perfect size to add into/between places to give the kitchen the full functioning look of a RL kitchen (yes I have a thing about pieces that look more like RL stuff). The other piece the storing table is 1 prim *dance* and costs $109L if purchased separately. I love the detail in this piece with the slats that run along the top & bottom (and yes when you look down from the top you can see items through the slats). Although it may be me I had some issues with this piece and getting my avie to stand directly next to it so I’m not sure what the issue is.

My over all feelings on Cool Coal Cuisine set are that it is a great set even with it’s small little issues here and there & I will be leaving it out in my SL home (I suppose this really shows my feelings about the set), so I you happen to drop by you will see it there as soon as you tp in.

I am very excited that I was given the opportunity to be featuring a new designer in SL, whom I feel will be advancing more & more in her abilities as she grows as a designer in SL. I look forward to following her career and her designs and I hope to be bringing you reviews of her new products in the future. So go on over and check out HOmE GENiE & say hi to Jeannie Svenson!
